Unemployed man jailed eight years for causing harm
The Juaso Circuit Court has sentenced an unemployed man, to eight years imprisonment causing harm during a failed attempt to rob a student of his mobile phone.
Kingsley Richard Minkah had attacked the victim with a club on his way to school.
He pleaded guilty to charges of attempt to commit crime, use of offensive weapon and causing harm.
Police Chief Inspector Dennis Duku, told the court, presided by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh that the incident happened on last December 03, at about 1930 hours.
The victim, Shaibu Ganiw, is a student of the Agogo State Senior High School (SHS) and was returning to school from town, when the convict struck – hit him in the head with a club as he dropped to the ground and bled profusely.
The prosecution said Minkah attempted to forcibly seize the student’s phone but he put up fierce resistance, forcing him to flee.
Ganiw, who took a good look at his attacker, later identified him to the police and he was arrested.
He confessed to the offence in his caution statement.
