Black Stars doctor attributes bad pitch to Rahman’s injury

Dr. Adam Baba, head of the medical team of the Black Stars, has attributed the knee injury, that ruled out wing back Baba Abdul Rahman from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, to the bad nature of the pitch.

According to Dr. Baba, the pitch was too hard, hence the defender twisted his knee, when fell awkwardly during the match.

Rahman, was substituted before the end of the first half by Frank Acheampong.  

Speaking to the media at the Black Stars training grounds on Thursday, Dr. Baba said, they noticed, the players left knee, was swollen with a lot of pain just after the injury, therefore the need further examination. 

He said the examination in the Gabonese capital Libravile on Wednesday, revealed that he had meniscus tear and partial rapture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a collection of fluids in the knee.

He said the player’s condition, will require a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of eight weeks to return to action.     

Dr. Baba said, if the extent damage to the fibres in the knee was huge then he will be on the sidelines for eight weeks but if few, then two weeks will be enough for him to recover.      

He however noted that, much will depend on the outcome of the further tests, that will be conducted on him in Germany.

Baba Rahman, was still with his colleague as at Thursday, but will soon be leaving for Germany.
