Hayatou loses CAF Presidency

Issa Hayatou’s almost three-decade reign as Confederation of African Football (CAF), President has ended.

Reports indicate that his presidency ended today after delegates voted him out of his position in elections conducted in Ethiopia.

Madagascar’s Ahmad managed to garner votes enough to win against Issah Hayatou and become the new CAF President.

Hayatou, 70 has been the President of CAF since 1988.

Ahmad beat Hayatou by 34 to 20 votes on a historical day in African football.

Ahmad, 57, is said to be a former government minister and goes by just a single name.
