Ministry of Transport appeals for technical support
Mr Kweku Ofori Asiamah, the Minister of Transport has entreated the Chinese government to assist in providing equipment and training in support of the technical training centres in Ghana.
He said the technical centres were critical to the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and appealed to China to support Ghana in revamping the sector to boost national development.
Mr Asiamah made the appeal during an interaction with the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Sun Baohong, on Wednesday.
The meeting was to continue and extend the bilateral collaboration and friendship between the two countries.
He said the Government needed the aid of the Chinese government to expand the Takoradi Harbour, as well as explore and strengthen other areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Mrs Baohong noted that China had contributed to infrastructure development of Ghana for long and affirmed that, “China can be a major and reliable partner in the infrastructural development of the country.
“Past governments have done a lot in sustaining the bilateral friendship” between the two governments and the current administration can always write to the Chinese embassy for support.”
She said the Chinese government was in talks with the Chief of Staff to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign affairs and the Ministry of Transport to facilitate the teamwork between the two states.
