Ghana wins Binatone International Skate soccer competition
Ghana’s Black Skate beat Nigeria 3-2 to lift the third edition of Binatone International Skate Soccer at the Independence Square in Accra on Sunday.
The third edition of the competition, saw hundreds of spectators thronged to the venue to catch a glimpse of the skills exhibited by the physically challenged players.
The 7-a-side game, which lasted for a total 90 minutes witnessed a great showing from both sides.
For the team’s efforts, Ghana received GHC 10,000 plus a trophy.
Ghana’s captain Gariba Mohammed who was involved in all three goals for his side to ensure Ghana emerged victorious, won the goal king award.
The most valuable player award went to Nigeria’s Abdallah Mohammed for his splendid performance.
The best defender went to Awuta Uman from Nigeria, whilst Ghanaian Billal Adamu was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the competition.
This is the first time Ghana played a team from Africa in the Skate Soccer competition.
The Group MD of Binatone Sunil Lalvani congratulated Ghana on their victory.
He said that, the sponsorship drive was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility dedicated to the development of physically challenged members of the society.
