Appoint competent CEO for Ghana Gas – Nzema Youth
The Nzema Youth Association (NYA) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to appoint a competent and an experienced Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC).
The Association has expressed worry about the false responses by some groups purported to be lobbyists for Dr Ben Asante, former Consultant to the Ghana Gas, to an ‘issue based’ petition put forward by the NYA.
A statement signed by Mr Mark Asmah, Secretary of the Association and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said NYA was not attacking the personality of Dr Asante rather, raising issues based on his track record.
The Association said the group was not an affiliate of any political party and neither does it engage in political arm-twisting, but a credible issue-based body for the development of the people with a track record.
The statement said the Association in 2011 during the relocation of the Gas Processing Plant, vehemently protested against the then National Democratic Congress administration and had audience with the late President John Evans Atta Mills on the issue.
The body expressed worry about the rot at the GNGC that made Dr Asante unfit for the CEO position.
“The NYA cannot sit idle for someone like Dr Asante who occupied such a pedestal at GNGC to become so innocent of the inequities of Ghana Gas and turn round to play the ostrich.
“We cannot stop talking until reasonable answers are provided to our concerns and the concerns of many Ghanaians if indeed there were rots at GNGC.”
The NYA is of the belief that President Nana Akufo- Addo would give a listening ear to the association and bring on a neutral person to head Ghana Gas devoid of any ethnic bias.
The Association has acknowledged President Akufo-Addo’s desire to do good for the Ghanaian people and pledge their unflinching support to stand by him in achieving the country’s developmental agenda by exposing pretenders and saboteurs of government plans.
