Graduate nurses plead for hastening of their recruitment
The Unemployed Graduate Nurses Association of Ghana has appealed to the Health Ministry to hasten their recruitment into the public sector.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Benson Amoako, a copy of which, was made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi.
It asked that the sector Minister acted quickly to end what it termed “heartbreaking indefinite freeze on their employment”.
The association indicated that, so far, there has not been any satisfactory justification for the halt in the hiring process, which has “left those, shortlisted anddesignated to health centres, in confusion”.
“Some of our members have been given financial clearance to commence work this month, but their hope and enthusiasm has been dashed because of the indefinite recruitment suspension.”
The statement reminded the government and everybody of the critical role nurses played in the development of every nation and said issues concerning nurses therefore needed to be treated with seriousness and urgency.
