Bawku West NPP youth apologise for misconduct
Some aggrieved youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region who vandalised their party office and some public property have rendered unqualified apology for the misdemeanor.
The youth of the ruling party, a fortnight ago vandalised the party’s office, some decentralised Departments at the District Assembly in protest of the president’s nominee for the post of District Chief Executive, Madam Victoria Ayamba.
The Youth who showed up in their numbers and expressing remorse went to key areas including; the NPP party office, the Zebilla Chief’s Palace and the District Police station, where they rendered unqualified apologies for causing public disturbance and creating instability.
The Youth rendered the apology at Zebilla, when they met Mr Patrick Ayaaba, the man they were vying for to intercede on their behalf.
They called on the public and stakeholders who were affected during the disturbances to forgive them for causing fear and panic in the area.
Mr Ayaaba condemned the act and said it was unlawful in an era of democratic dispensation to vandalized public property and cause mayhem to society with the pretext that there was a preferred candidate for government appointment.
He described the action of the youth as shameful, and had raised questions about the party in the area and warned the youth to be guided by the principles of law and never to repeat such an embarrassing act.
He refuted allegation that he was behind the rioting and said he contested the position to develop the area, and questioned why he would incite people to destroy what he was seeking to develop.
Mr Ayaaba urged the youth and the people of the district to respect the President’s decisions and rally behind Madam Victoria Ayamba to help bring development to the area assuring them of his commitment to team up with Madam Ayamba to foster development in the area as promised in their party’s manifesto.
Mr Fatawu Sumailla the leader of the group said they had regretted for the shameful act and gave the assurance that the youth would always resort to laid down rules to get their grievances resolved.
“We promise to be agents of change to correct people who may want to emulate such regrettable mistakes”.
