Hohoe Assembly rejects MCE nominee

Mr Teddy Ofori, the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for the Hohoe Municipality, on Monday failed to secure the approval of the Assembly members for the position.
    
He only managed 24 and 27 votes out of 44 in two rounds of voting, falling short of the two-third requirement-29 votes in the 44-member Assembly.
    
The retired Educationist will have a second chance in 10 days in accordance with provisions in the Local Government Act.
    
Meanwhile the President’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive for the Keta Municipality, Mr Seth Yormewu, got the nod of the Assembly.
   
He polled 56 votes in the 70-member Assembly representing 80 per cent approval.
   
Mr Yormewu, 47, a Teacher, expressed gratitude to the President and the Assembly and said he would justify the confidence reposed in him.
    
He prayed for support, peace and unity to help get the area moved away from its current socio-economic challenges.
    
Dr Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister expressed government’s commitment to bringing development to every district.
    
He also expressed joy at the confirmation of the nominee.
