Confirmed case of swine flu in Ghana
It is now confirmed that swine flu is in Ghana. The Health Ministry has told the media that there is a confirmed case of swine flu in the capital Accra. There is one other case in the Western region, but that is not yet confirmed.
This makes it the first case of the presence of H1N1 in Ghana.
The deputy Minsiter of Health, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour said the individual who is infected, recently returned from the UK where he visited a relation who was being treated for the disease.
The individual has not been named.
Swine flu is a deadly respiratory disease caused by a strain of the influenza type A virus known as H1N1.
The Ministry however, has assured the public that it was on top of the issue.
