Defence objects to tendering of witness’s statement in Wisa case
Defence Counsel for Eugene Ashie aka Wisa, a musician on trial for indecent exposure on Wednesday objected to the tendering of a witness statement by the prosecution in the case in court.
Wisa who is alleged to have displayed his manhood on stage whiles performing at the Accra International Conference centre on the 25th December 2015 in a concert dubbed “December to remember”.
When the case was called the prosecution told the court of its inability to produce the said witness in court.
According to the prosecution the witness who was one of the organisers of the concert could not be traced so they wanted to tender a statement the witness gave to Police during investigation through the investigator.
Counsel for Wisa, Jerry Avenogbor objected to this and asked why it has taken two years for the prosecution to do so.
He argued that prosecution should close its case if unable to produce the said witness.
The court however adjourned the case to June 29 to allow defence counsel to back its objection with authorities.
Wisa has denied the charge and is on an GHȼ8,000.00 bail.
