Suspected police killer arrested
The Tema Police Regional Command.says it has arrested Razark Salifu, also known as Baba, one of the suspected killers of Constable Michael Kporyie.
Constable Kporyie, who was stationed at the Command’s Rapid Response Force, was shot dead by two unknown gun men on a motorbike near Michel Camp when he was on motorbike patrol duties on Monday evening.
Before the arrest of Salifu, one other suspect Alhasan Adams popularly known as Dogo America, who was believed to be the leader of an armed robbery gang was shot dead by the police.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Joseph Benefo Darkwah. Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, in a press statement said investigations revealed that Salifu was one of the two persons who trailed, shot and killed the police constable.
ASP Darkwah added that police shot him in the leg when he tried scaling his house fence wall upon seeing the officers. Salifu is currently on admission at the Tema General Hospital under police protection.
Meanwhile, the Police Command has impounded nine motorbikes from the house of one Alidu, gang member of Dogo America’s robbery group.
The impounded motorbikes included four Jungle bikes and five others.
The PRO noted that intelligence gathered by the police indicated that Alidu kept a fleet of motorbikes in his Ashaiman Lebanon Zone two residence which was used for the gang’s nefarious activities.
Police therefore embarked on an operation to impound and arrest Alidu on June 15, 2017 but suspect managed to escape.
He pleaded with the public to volunteer information that could lead to his arrest and other members of the gang.
