The Standard Chartered Banks new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Ghana and Area General Manager, West Africa, Mr Hemen Shah, has assumed office with the responsibility of growing the bank’s business in Ghana and across the sub-region.

Mr Hemen Shah, who was introduced to the staff at a town-hall meeting recently, was the former CEO for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Tanzania, a position he held from March 2004.

Under his leadership, SCB Tanzania’s trading profit more than doubled. The bank also received recognition for being the Best Bank, 2005 and 2006 (Euromoney) and 2004, 2005 and 2007 (Banker Awards), and also the Best Employer (2005, Employers Association of Tanzania).

Mr Hemen Shah joined Standard Chartered in 2002 as the Group Head of Strategy. He was responsible for developing the Standard Chartered Group’s corporate strategy, including evaluating potential acquisitions and identifying new markets for entry, roles he successfully discharged, leading to the development of Standard Chartered’s current strategic intent, after which he moved to SCB Tanzania.

Commenting on his new role, he said, “I am delighted at the opportunity of contributing to Standard Chartered’s rich heritage in Ghana and working with the team to deliver on our brand promise of leading by example to be the right partner to all our stakeholders.

We will remain focused on living our values in our approach to managing our people, outserving our customers and communities and working with our regulators to bring value to the development agenda of Ghana in line with our Sustainable Business agenda.”

Last November, Mr Hemen was also introduced to a cross-section of the bank’s stakeholders, including customers, regulators, the banking fraternity, government officials and the diplomatic corps at a reception which also served as a farewell event for his predecessor, Mr Ebby Essoka, who has been appointed to head the bank’s business in South Africa, one of Standard Chartered’s strategic growth markets in Africa.

Unfair treatment to a loyal customer-Richmond Frempong is what i am reporting to the CEO Mr. Hemen Shah. I have been a customer to stanchat for the past fifteen years.I requested for an Employee Smart Credit loan in 2007 to enable me purchase a piece of land. The amount requested was GHc6,200.00. Stanchart promised that the loan would be ready in two weeks. Based on this promise i promised the owner of the land that i would effect payment to him latest by three weeks. Stanchart made the money available in six weeks. The land had been sold by that time. I wrote a letter immediately I was informed that the loan was ready in my account (No 0100157194500) to stanchart KNUST Branch that they should take thier money back which the Bank did.Over GHc900.00 has been deducted from my accounts. all efforts to get my money back has proffed futile. Please CEO help me to get my money back. This is unfair. My phone number is 0208113865
