Ghana Premier League goes on one month break

The Ghana Premier League (GPL), has been placed on a month long break to pave way for international assignments and other outstanding matches of the league.

The break is to allow the local Black Stars to embark on a week-long residential camping for the qualifiers of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) against Burkina Faso.

It will also pave way for the quarter finals of the MTN FA Cup this weekend.

It said the league will return temporary on August 26 to August 30, after which it will take another break in September to enable the Black Stars Team B to prepare for the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) competition.

The statement said, all outstanding matches will be cleared within the month long break with Kumasi Asante Kotoko playing Hearts of Oak on August 6, in an outstanding league match.

It said, the outstanding league game between Ashantigold and West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), on July 30, whilst WAFA will play Kotoko on August 23.
