Marwako case: Victim agrees to settlement out of court

The Abeka District Court has deferred the judgment in the case in which a supervisor at a Marwako Restaurant  Jihad Chaaban  has been accused of dipping the face of a female employee into a blender full of blended pepper.

This follows the filing of terms of settlement between the accused person and the victim, Evelyn Boakye.

The magistrate, Victor Ghansah, who received the document, had to adjourn the case, indicating she had to study it before delivering her judgment as it might impact her decision.

Jihad Chaaban, a Supervisor at the Marwako Restaurant, on February 28, this year, allegedly assaulted the victim for fidgeting with a blender and working slowly.

Chaaban, a brother-in-law of the owner of Marwako Restaurant, at the Abelemkpe branch allegedly grabbed the neck of the victim angrily and dipped her face into a blender full of blended pepper.

Chaaban has been charged with offensive conduct by calling the victim a prostitute and intentionally and unlawfully causing harm and assault.

Chaaban however denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

The case has been adjourned to August 9, 2017.
