Judicial Service appeals for completion of Yendi Court
The Judicial Service has appealed to the Regent of Dagbon; Kampakuya Na Andani Yakubu Abdulai, to intervene for the completion of the Yendi Circuit Court building, which was started during former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s Administration.
Mr Samuel Boakye –Yiadom, the Deputy Judicial Secretary – Northern Sector made the appeal when he and a team from the Service paid a courtesy call on the Regent in Yendi as part of his working tour to the area.
He said he had discussed the issue with Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Yussuf, the Municipal Chief Executive.
He expressed the view that if the Regent intervened the Municipal Assembly was likely to resume work on the project to bring justice closer to the people.
Dagbon Kampakuya Na Abdulai gave the assurance that he would liaise with the stakeholders to move the project forward.
Mr William Appiah Twumasi the Yendi Circuit Court Judge, noted that it was only in the Northern Region that a High Court was situated in the Regional Capital -Tamale.
He said the current local court was in such a bad situation that court proceedings were stopped anytime it rained.
Meanwhile Alhaji Abubakar had promised that GH¢100,000.00 has been budgeted from the Assembly’s share of the 2016 District Assemblies Common Fund for the completion of the court building.
