Kwadwo Asamoah’s Ghana return delayed again
Head Coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah has excluded Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah from his squad for the double header against Congo in the 2018 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup qualifiers.
Appiah named his squad on Wednesday without Asamoah and his exemption, it’s believed, was for the playmaker to sort out his future with his club as he has been linked to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Information gathered by the GNA Sports from Italy indicates that Asamoah could be on the verge of joining Galatasaray.
The 28 year old Juventus midfielder has been a fringe player for much of the last two seasons, having sustained a recurring knee injury that kept him on the side-lines and reduced his role to a substitute.
Though the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions league finalists are reluctant to sell the Ghanaian player, Asamoah is said to be interested in moving as a result of lack of playing time in Italy.
Asamoah was scheduled to return to the Black Stars after nearly three years absence against the Congolese at the Kumasi sports stadium on September 1.
Ghana is currently third in Group E with one point behind Egypt and Uganda who have accumulated six and four points respectively.
