Justice has finally been served – Akua Donkor

Madam Akua Donkor, Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) who was robbed at gunpoint last year by three persons, has lauded the court for handing a 20-year jail term each on her robbers.

Madam Donkor was happy that finally justice has been served and commended the media for supporting her during the trial.

Speaking to the media after the delivery of judgement in the matter, she described the robbery as an unfortunate situation which happened to her.

According to her after adorning herself to enable her travel abroad some people wanted to kill her but God has served her.

“I did not die on the day of the incident because God saved me and he wanted to use me to do many things,” Madam Donkor said.

Yakubu Yusif, a Trader, Barnabas Kayase, a Driver and Abdul Razak Shaibu of the GPRTU Task Force, reportedly robbed Madam Donkor of her travelling bag containing plane ticket, Ghanaian passport, Voter’s ID, an amount of $30,000 and GH¢3,000.00 at Sowutuom in Accra.

They were found guilty on the charges of conspiracy to rob and robbery by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh.

An accomplice, Mr Opoku Agyeman was earlier on acquitted and discharged by the court following the filing of a submission of no case.

The court admonished Madam Donkor to beware of those that she surrounded herself with, adding if she had anything to fear, it should not be political leaders.

According to the court, it was a fact that Madam Donkor’s visit abroad was to petition the International Court of Justice in The Hague because she was not comfortable with the Political leadership after the December 7, polls.
