JUSAG to embark on strike if allowances were not paid

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) on Thursday said it would embark on an industrial action by October 19, if their outstanding allowances were not paid by the Government.

JUSAG, in a statement to demand for the payment of their allowances, said its National Executive Council (NEC) resolved that the members rent allowances from January this year to date should be paid swiftly.

Members of JUSAG, in two letters dated August 16 and August 23, 2017, and same forwarded to the Chief Justice, said their rent allowances, which were part of their Condition of Service, had received approval of the Judicial Council.

However efforts to ensure payment of the allowances had not yielded any results.

“Respectively we count on the effort of government and management to make payment of the rent allowances so as to forefend any industrial action,” the statement said.

“Failure to address the above on or before October 19, 2017, we are enjoined to embark on an industrial action to realise our legitimate demand.” 

Meanwhile JUSAG said: “Notice is hereby served on the National Labour Commission.”
