Moses, Salah and Mane make cut for CAF player of the year

Victor Moses, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane have been shortlisted alongside nine other African players to vie for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Player of The Year Awards slated for Thursday, January 4, 2018 in Accra, Ghana.

CAF in a release noted that eleven players are making the cut for the Player of the Year category, with ten players making it for the player of the year (Based in Africa).

It said, the votes would be gathered from members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants from the initial 30-man list.

According to the release, the second and final phase, involves Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations taking part in the voting exercise alongside ten members from the Independent Media and TV Consultants group

“For the first time, captains of the senior men’s national teams of the affiliated National Associations would also take part in decision making process of the African Player of the Year and Player of the Year (Based in Africa)”.

In no particular other the other players in contention for the award for the African Player of the Year includes Bertrand Traore, Burkina Faso, Denis Onyango, Karim El Ahmadi, Keita Balde, Naby Keita, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vincent Aboubakar, and Yacine Brahimi.

For the Player of the Year Africa based includes Achraf Bencharki, Ahmed Fathi, Ali Maaloul, Aristide Bance, Ben Malango, Denis Onyango, Jeremy Brockie, Junior Ajayi, Mohamed Ounnajem and Taha Yassine Khenisssi.
