Kwahu Traditional Council unveils programme of activities for Kwahu Easter

The Kwahu Traditional Council in collaboration with the Kwahu South District Assembly had released a programme of activities for the celebration of this year’s Kwahu Easter Festival.

This year’s celebration has attracted a number of stakeholders including the district assemblies in the Kwahu area, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts, Ghana Tourism Authority, the Kwahu Traditional Council, and private business organisations.

In a brief statement issued by the Kwahu South District Assembly at Mpraeso, there will be the paragliding festival with the participation of some foreign tourists from Saturday March 30, to Easter Monday, April, 02, 2018.  

The statement said it would issue permit cards to business houses, traders and food vendors who will visit the various towns to sell their wares and urged all entities to register with the Assembly for a fee and display their permit cards at their stands for inspection by the assembly task force to avoid any embarrassment.

The Chairman of the Kwahu Easter Celebration Committee, Nana Effah Pinamang III, at the press briefing, said there would be the Kwahu marathon race which would start from Nkawkaw through Mpreaso, Abetifi and end at Abene on Saturday, adding that, prizes such at flat screen television sets and refrigerators would be presented to the winners.

Nana Pinamang III, who is also the chief of Obomang, said there would be a football gala among 24 selected communities in the Kwahu area on Friday.

He said the communities would be grouped into two with 12 teams each to be played at St. Peters Senior High School at Nkwatia and Mpraeso parks respectively. Trophies would be presented to the winners.

The traditional council would organise a grand durbar at Abene, which would be attended by chiefs and people from the Kwahu communities on Saturday.

Nana Pinamang III advised all citizens and visitors who would be attending the festival to dress decently and be disciplined throughout the four days festive period.
