Foh-Amoaning tells GFA officials there is no point avoiding the law

Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning, a lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, has said “there is no point avoiding the laws”, following reports that, some officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), have fled the country for fear of culpability in the “Anas Expose”.

He said such officials cannot hide from the long arm of the law, adding that they are between the “devil and a hard place”.

Mr Amoaning, who also doubled as a Media Consultant, said this in an interview with GNA Sports.

He said it was however necessary to note that, such talks of prosecution of these officials were hypothetical, because none of them have been pronounced guilty by the judiciary yet and that until they have been found guilty, they were not.

Mr Foh-Amoaning said in the case that such officials were found guilty, fleeing the country would not shield them from prosecution either by Ghana or the countries they have flown to.

“Hypothetically speaking, no, they can’t get away from prosecution simply by leaving away from the jurisdiction that is if they are found guilty. And this is because, in that case, Ghana can first seek extradition for them to be prosecuted here.

“Secondly, wherever they run away to, to the extent that whatever they did, constitutes a crime within that jurisdiction and they could also be prosecuted over there. Crime is crime wherever you go and so long as you have done something which amounts to an offence, Ghana can have you brought down by INTERPOL”, he said.

Mr Foh-Amoaning explained that the situation with the arrests of FIFA officials in other countries by US law enforcements in previous years, when issues of corruption in the world football governing body, were investigated by the US.

He urged Ghanaians to wait for the publication of the ANAS Expose dubbed ‘Number 12’ in June, before passing judgements of guilt.
