BECE candidates advised to obey WAEC exam rules

Candidates writing the 2018 Basic Education Certificates Examinations (BECE) have been advised to obey all rules and regulations governing the national examination in order to maintain its integrity and sanctity.

The candidates have also been told to exhibit high sense of confidence and eschew all kinds of fear as they undertake the examination conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).   

Alhaji Alhassan Sulemana, the Upper West Regional Minister, said this when he toured various examination centres in the Region with education officers, the media and some members from the regional coordinating council.

The Minister was flanked by Mr Evans Kpebah, the Regional Director of Ghana Education Service (GES) and Alhaji Abdulai Abubakar, the Chief Director of Upper West Regional Coordinating Council together with some officials.

The team toured Wa Senior High School, Wa Senior High Technical School and Wa School for the Blind centres, to wish the BECE candidates well and also gather first hand information on the first day of the examination.

Alhaji Sulemana advised the candidates to attend to the exams with seriousness and just as they have done with other school examinations, they would make it.

“See it as the usual [terminal] examinations that you have been writing in your schools and challenge yourself that you have done it before and will make it again,” he said.

There are 12,308 registered candidates who are expected to write this year’s BECE conducted by the West Africa Examination Council in collaboration with GES in 40 examination centres in Upper West Region, comprising 6,284 boys and 6024 girls.
