We are proving sceptics wrong – Bawumia
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the government is keeping faith with Ghanaians and delivering on every promise made in the run up to the last general election.
He said its performance in 17 months should be enough to convince everybody and prove sceptics, who doubted the capability of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to achieve its ambitious promises, wrong.
The Vice President was addressing a durbar of chiefs and people at Asante Mampong.
He cited the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which their political opponents described as unrealistic.
The implementation of the policy within the first year of the Nana Akufo-Addo Administration together with the restoration of teachers and nurses’ allowance was an indication that the government was up to the task.
He gave the assurance that their other flagship programmes including the one district one factory (1D1F) and the one village one dam were going to be4 made a dream come true.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia was in the Mampong municipality as part of his tour of selected Muslim communities in the Ashanti Region to commemorate this year’s Ramadan.
He visited Zongo communities in Offinso, Mampong and Effiduase where he presented assorted food items and cash to aid the Muslims in their fasting.
The Vice President also paid courtesy calls on the Paramount Chief of Offinso, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, and Daasebre Osei Bonsu, Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong.
He said they inherited a weak economy but through sound and prudent policies, it was on the path of recovery.
The government remained unswerving in its determination to transform and expand the economy to bring prosperity to the people and he called for all to give it their strong backing.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu applauded the Vice President and government for the numerous interventions rolled out.
He asked that bad roads in the municipality should be fixed to boost economic activities there.
