Driver alleged to defile 3-year old granted bail
Emmanuel Kyei, a 40-year-old driver who is accused of defiling a three-year-old girl at Dansoman, a suburb of Accra, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
Kyei who is said to have inserted his finger and manhood into the victim’s anus and vagina, was admitted to bail in the sum of GHC20,000.00 with three sureties one to be justified by the Court presided over by Mrs Rita Abrokwah Doko.
Kyei was ordered by the Court to report to the case investigator at the Dansoman Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit every two weeks till the final determination of the case.
This was after Kyei’s Counsel; Mr Maurice Kwabena Ampaw had prayed the Court to grant his client bail.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire did not opposed to bail, but prayed the Court to give them a short time for trial to commence since the victim was only three years old.
Kyei charged with defilement has however pleaded not guilty.
The accused person is expected to reappear on October 31 for trial to commence.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire narrated that the complainant in the case was a trader residing at Russia in Accra. The victim is the complainant’s niece.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said Kyei was a co-tenant to the complainant.
On September 23, this year, the complainant’s daughter name withheld informed the complainant about her suspicion of someone inserting his finger into the victim’s anus and vagina.
When the victim was quizzed, she informed the complainant that it was Kyei who had been inserting his finger and penis into her vagina and anus.
Based on the information received, Prosecution said a report was made at the Dansoman Police Station and a medical form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to the hospital for medical examination.
On September 26, this year, prosecution said the medical report received by the Police indicated that the victim had been sexually abused and her hymen was broken.
Prosecution said based on the report Kyei was picked up by the Police.
