Vodafone partners Kwese to introduce video on-demand
Vodafone Ghana has partnered multiplatform broadcaster, Kwese, to bring the video on-demand and live television (TV) content to the public through its video streaming service; Kwese Play.
The partnership would make it possible for Ghanaians to connect a Kwese Play digital TV device to Vodafone’s high speed ‘fibre-to-the-home’ or ADSL broadband service to access unlimited live entertainment.
It would also support Kwese Play to access unlimited bundle on Vodafone’s fixed broadband internet packages for consumers.
This was made known during the launch of the Vodafone Kwese Playstore in Accra as the leading-edge digital TV device powered by RokuTM to allow viewers access the world’s best video content using the Internet.
Kwese Play, which is sold for GH¢450.00 with a monthly subscription of GH¢165.00, functions when it is connected to the TV device via its HDMI connector.
Ms Patricia Obo-Nai, the Director of Fixed Business and Customer Operations, said Vodafone was excited about the partnership, which would bring world-class entertainment content to its customers.
She said leveraging on Vodafone Ghana’s reliable and efficient internet broadband service would enable Kwese Play to deliver seamless video on-demand and live TV content to Ghanaians.
Ms Obo-Nai said the network’s high-speed internet connection would resolve problems faced by internet users in spending hours to download their favourite contents.
Mr Maxwell Dodd, the Country Manager of Kwese Ghana, said the application had introduced the most diverse video on demand content due to its strategic partnerships with the world’s leading providers including Kwese iflix, Netflix, YouTube, TED and RedBull TV.
He said Kwese Play would also launch over 200 streaming channels delivered on a single platform.
“We pride ourselves as being an innovative broadcast network offering premium content to African viewers across multiple platforms,” he said.
“The introduction of Kwese Play in Ghana expands our product offering while bringing the best in general entertainment to Ghanaian households.”
Mr Dodd noted that Vodafone fixed broadband subscribers could purchase the Kwese Play device and receive a month’s unlimited data to stream Kwese’s full live TV content bouquet and a complementary 12-month subscription to iflix as part of the package.
