My message of change will convince NDC Party delegates – Spio-Garbrah
Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a Presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed optimism that his message and persuasion would convince delegates to elect him to lead the party in the election 2020.
From his interaction with delegates at the various constituencies he said, they world vote for a candidate who had a good and convincing message, but not a candidate who dashed money and gift.
Spio-Garbrah, who was briefing journalists on his recent interaction with Party delegates in the Awutu-Senya East Constituency as part of his campaign, stated that delegates would vote for a change in the leadership of the Party.
He encouraged them to persistently chant a new mantra that would keep them vigilant and at the same time highlight their frustration and anger to the level that would make them work hard to oust the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the government in 2020.
According to him, the proposed seven points agenda aimed at helping to restore the image and reputation of the party as a pro-people party and reducing moderately the increasing monetisation and commercialisation of the party was discussed with the delegates.
Dr Spio-Gabrah said, “It is good to make it clearer to those who don’t understand that ‘ehe edjor bordooo” and “emefa Mia Mia” both mean that “things are very cool and alright”.
“Being in opposition is not cool and the situation under the NPP is not fine…so the NDC’s slogans must match the reality of the lives of NDC members. Otherwise, NDC members will lull themselves into a condition of complacency.
“This will work against the NDC in mobilising itself for what will be a very difficult campaign of trying to remove a party and government which would have served only one term by 2020.
“Now we want the government to change after four years, we need to be prepared in the mind first. We need a psychological change and a brand that will reflect our new circumstances. This is not about sharing money or cars or material things. This is about the courage to work hard to defeat the NPP,” he stated.
Dr Spio-Garbrah taught and rehearsed with them a rendition of a number of tunes that depict that President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had failed to fulfil the many manifesto promises to Ghanaians.
