Government trains 300 youth to become entrepreneurs  

The New Juaben Municipal Office of the Business Advisory Centre is training 300 youth in various skills to enable them start their own businesses.

The six-months training started in December, last year, and will end in May, this year.

The trainees include 120 females in ICT entrepreneurship, 30 in other entrepreneurship programmes, and 30 National Service Personnel being trained in proposal writing, communication skills, customer service delivery, mobile phones repair, food safety and business planning.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Stephen Kwame Yeboah-Mantey, the Head of New Juaben Business Advisory Centre of the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), said on completion, the trainees would be connected to some banks for financial assistance.

He explained that the banks would go through the business proposal of each of the participants and, based on merit, the financial support would be offered.

Mr Yeboah-Mantey said the Government was initiating this scheme to increase the number of viable micro, small and medium enterprises, which  could be formalized to contribute to economic growth.

He said the Centre was also training unemployed graduates in the use of the computer, how to repair LED TV, LCD TV and radio.
