Trader dragged to court for defilement
A 25-year-old trader who allegedly defiled a 13 year-old girl appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra on Friday charged with defilement.
Emmanuel Baafi pleaded not guilty. The court remanded him into prison custody to reappear on January 21.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lawrence Gbele told the court that Baafi, the victim and her mother live in the same house at Darkuman in Accra where he had been sending her on errands.
In October last year, Baafi asked the victim to go and buy him soft drink and on her return, he directed her to put it in the refrigerator in his room.
The Prosecution said the accused followed her to the room, dragged her into his bedroom and defiled her.
ASP Gbele said the victim’s mother reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Odorkor.
Baafi was arrested and investigations showed that he had defiled her on two occasions.
