Ghana’s quest to host successful 2023 African Games on course – Minister
Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, has reiterated that Ghana’s dream to host a successful Africa Games in 2023 is still on course despite the Coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking at a Press Conference in Accra on Wednesday, he said the Coronavirus pandemic which had halted many sporting events worldwide has not affected Ghana’s preparation to host a successful quadrennial competition.
He said “Notwithstanding the negative effect of COVID-19 on the global sporting programmes, I am happy to announce that, Ghana’s preparation to host and organise the 2023 African Games is on course.
“So far, there has not been any indication of the postponement of the games. Nonetheless, the 2023 African Games Project Team, led by my hard-working and industrious Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Ghana organises and hosts a memorable African Games, come 2023”.
Many sporting events had been hit by the Coronavirus pandemic which caused the postponement and cancellation of international competitions including the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
In less than three years, Ghana will host the rest of Africa at the 13th edition of the Africa Games.
