Delta Variant of COVID-19 recorded in a Ghanaian community
The Delta Variant of COVID-19 has been recorded in a Ghanaian community, the Ministry of Information has confirmed.
The Ministry did not indicate which Ghanaian community recorded it but said the infected persons have been isolated and in good health condition.
The Ministry announced that at 10:00 hours on Friday, July 2, 2021 the Covid-19 task force informed the Ghana Health Service (GHS) that the Delta Variant of the SARS-Cov-2 virus had been recorded within a community in the latest round of genomic sequencing.
It said the relevant agencies were taking the necessary steps to ensure that the spread is contained.
The task force would provide further details at 13:00 hours on Sunday July 4, 2021,
The Ministry urged the public to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 preventive etiquette while going about their permitted activities.
The Delta Variant of COVID-19 originated from India and is one of the deadliest viruses in the world and highly infectious.
Health experts say the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccines have no effect on that particular virus.
