NDC calls for dismissal of Ejura MCE
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana’s main opposition party, has called for the dismissal of Mr Salisu Bamba, the Ejura Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
The MCE, according to the party, was to blame for Tuesday’s (June 29) shooting incident in the area that claimed two lives, including Nasiru Yussif and Murtala Mohammed, both in their 20s, who had since been buried.
“The NDC is of the view that the MCE’s dismissal would pave the way for uninterrupted investigations into the death of Ibrahim Mohammed, 45, which sparked the violent protest leading to the demise of the two young men”, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC National Communications Director, told the media.
This was after the leadership of the main opposition party had paid a visit to the affected families in the shooting incident, at Dagomba-Line, Ejura, on Thursday.
“We are informed some boys close to the MCE committed that heinous crime, therefore, we are demanding that justice be served in this issue,” he noted.
Two suspects, Ibrahim Issaka, alias Anyaas, and Fuseini Alhassan, are currently being held by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in connection with the death of the 45-year-old man.
The government on Thursday announced the setting up of a three-member Ministerial Committee to probe the issue and give recommendations.
Mr Gyamfi called for thorough investigations into the tragedy, saying nobody should be shielded from this issue.
