Green Ghana will plant 20 million trees next year – Benito
Mr Benito Owusu Bio, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, says plans are ongoing towards the planting of 20 million trees next year under Government’s Green Ghana agenda.
He said the target followed the successful implementation of the project this year, with the planting of five million trees in a day.
The Minister said this while addressing the media in his office on Tuesday to discuss the outcomes and progress of the Green Ghana Project started this year.
The Project is Government’s initiative to plant five million trees across the country in a single day.
Mr Bio said with the support of third parties, the Ministry had been able to assess the Project and said he was impressed with the progress of the tree planting exercise and how the citizenry had participated.
“As we plan towards 2022 with the harsh tag #VisitMyTree #MyTreeIsAlive, the good news is that there are a lot of successes…,” he said and thanked traditional authorities and religious leaders for joining the campaign.
