Ghana Police interdicts six officers
The Police Administration says it has interdicted six Police officers involved in the shooting incident at Lamashegu in Tamale on Sunday, February 13.
The interdicted officers are General Corporal Samson Kweku Darfour, General Corporal Prosper Mormesimu, General Constable Harrison Twum Danso Driver, General Constable Mathew Sah, General Constable Nuhu Muntari and PW/Constable Doris Serwa Bonsu.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Ghana Police Service signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Kwesi Ofori, Director-General of Public Affairs.
The statement said the interdiction of the officers followed an initial investigation into the shooting incident involving the Tamale District Patrol team.
It said, “The Police Administration has also dispatched a team of investigators led by the Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCOP/Mr Frederick Agyei to lead the investigation into the matter.”
It said, “Personnel from the Police Professional Standards Bureau have also been detailed alongside the CID team to look at professional standard related issues of the incident.”
It said, “The Northern Regional Police Commander has been tasked to liaise with the affected families and offer them the necessary support in line with Police Regulations.”
The statement appealed to the people of Lamashegu and the entire Tamale Metropolis to remain calm as the investigation continued into the unfortunate occurrence.
It said, “We would like to assure the public that anybody found culpable will be dealt with according to the law.”
