China beats Germany as world’s top exporter
China has beaten Germany to become the world’s leading exporter according to latest figures released in Frankfurt.
According to the figures, China exported $1,050 billion worth of merchandise in the 11 months of 2009 from January to November, compared with $1,030 billion for Germany.
Germany’s shortfall of $20 billion makes it lag behind China.
In November, the German trade surplus climbed to €17.2 billion, according to seasonally corrected figures from the German national statistics office Destatis service, from €13.6 billion in October amid a pick up in global trade.
German exports to China had increased by almost 12% from November 2008.
