Nigerian company in Ghana to produce 1.5 million tonnes of cement
A Nigerian cement producing company in Ghana intends to produce 1.5 million tonnes this year.
A Nigerian publication, Leadership Nigeria reports that Dangote Group which has sank $3.5 billion into its operations says it aims at producing 20 million tonnes of cement in 2010.
The report quoted the company’s president Alhaji Aliko Dangote as saying that the group will also target a production level of 1.5 million tonnes each in Zambia and Tanzania.
Dangote Group is one of the Nigerian businesses operating in Ghana.
Another Nigerian publication, The Vanguard reported that Nigerian businesses account for about 60% of foreign investments in Ghana without indicating specific figures.
It quoted an official of the GIPC, Ashong-Lartey as saying the level of Nigerian investment in Ghana is very high, especially with the entrance of communications giant, Globacom, along with some other companies, into the country.
