Ghana School Feeding Programme interdicts Technical Officer
The Ghana School Feeding Programme on Monday interdicted Kwame Nuako, a technical officer who is being investigated by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) for alleged malfeasance.
A letter signed by the National Co-ordinator of the programme, Alhaji Suleman Abdulrahman to Nuako said the action was based upon the advice of the SFO to facilitate the investigation.
“You are hereby interdicted from this secretariat to pave way for smooth investigations. You are also reminded to hand over any property of the School Feeding Programme that is in your custody with immediate effect.”
Last month the SFO invited Nuako and Ebenezer Donkor, Senior Accountant for their alleged role in financial malfeasance and were granted bail after they had written their caution statements.
The 2007- 2008 audit review undertaken by the Audit Service revealed that Donkor arbitrarily spent 2, 500 Ghana cedis on Xmas bonus and had not ensured that the money was refunded.
Donkor also failed to pay a five per cent withholding tax of 117,000 Ghana cedis to the Internal Revenue Service.
The two employees are facing a number of charges bothering on bad accounting practices, which include inflating official figures to achieve criminal intent.
A report signed by Mr Augustine R.K. Deputy Acting Auditor General last year, said the two officials were culpable of negligence and poor record keeping.
