30-year-old man enrolls in Primary four

Modi Mohammed, a 30-year-old night watchman has been enrolled in Primary four to acquire basic education to be able to gain employment in the formal sector.

He was admitted at Nkwatia Methodist Primary school in the Kwahu East District at the beginning of last academic year.

Mohammed is married with four children with the eldest who is 11 years in Primary five, the second daughter, nine years, is in primary three, the third child seven years in primary two with the fourth child, four years in Kindergarten.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, in an interview at the school, Mohammed said he took advantage of the free education programme and his employment as a night watchman at one of the hostels of the Presbyterian University College (PUC) to acquire academic knowledge to enhance his status in the society.

He appealed to the government and non-governmental organizations to come to his aid to enable him to realize his dream of acquiring basic education.

The head-teacher of the school, Mr Sampson Yeboah, commended Mohammed for his bold decision to enroll in school to acquire formal education and urged him to concentrate on his studies to be able to achieve his aim.

Mohammed’s class teacher, Mr. Charles Darko, commended him on his academic performance as he placed seventh out of the 25 pupils in the first term terminal examination and urged him to keep it up and also study with his children at home.
