Auditing and Accountancy workshop ends in Winneba

The Committee of Internal Auditors, University of Ghana (CIA-UG) with the support of the Institute of Chartered Accountant Ghana (ICAG) has organised a day’s career exposition workshop for about 260 students from the Zion Girls Senior High School in Winneba.

The workshop was to expose the auditing and Accountancy professions to the students.

The Chairperson of the Committee, Ms Sena Dake said choosing a career could be very confusing, and considering the high competitive talent market that is currently underway, the youth would need to be guided in making choices and remaining focused.

She said the committee in this regard will carry out more sensitization programmes at various educational institutions on accountancy and auditing professions within communities where public Universities are located.

The Technical Director of ICAG, Mr Augustine Addo, said ICA Ghana currently runs two distinct professional accountancy programmes, and students from Senior High School could apply directly once they qualified.

He said the ICAG had a school in Accra and manuals have been developed to facilitate effective learning and development in the profession.

Mr Addo said girls have proven to perform better intellectually than their male counterparts when given the support.

He urged the students to take their studies seriously and be focused for lifelong success.

Mr David Zuure, Zion Girls Centre for School and Community Science and Technology Studies (SACOST) Club Director, charged the students not to disappoint those who will depend on them in future.
