Two Nigerian oil companies to enter Ghana

Ghana is becoming an attractive oil destination, not only for major global oil industry players from Europe, America and Asia, but from West Africa as well.

Two Nigeria oil and gas companies have expressed interest in investing in Ghana’s emerging oil and gas industry, a press release issued in Accra has said.

The companies are Orwell International Nigeria Ltd and Africa Oilfields Service Ltd (OAS).

In October 2009, a Nigerian oil and gas company, Oando Plc was selected to partner with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to develop the country’s natural gas infrastructure.

The project, worth about $1 billion would be developed at the Jubilee fields, the largest oil field to be discovered in West Africa in the last 10-15 years.

The companies intend to enter Ghana at the forth coming 14th Offshore Oil and Gas West Africa Exhibition to be held in the country. The event which will discuss the oil and gas industry in the sub-region will take place from March 9 to 11 2010 in Accra.

It is also expected to provide a unique networking opportunity for the exhibitors and to enable them gain an understanding of the changes taking place in the oil and gas industry.
