Power fluctuations affect water supply in Northern Region
The Assistant Communications Office of the Ghana Water Company Limited/Aqua Vitens Rand Limited, Mr. Nicholas Nii Abey, has said frequent power fluctuations and interruptions had been affecting water supply to the Northern Region.
Mr. Abey was speaking to the GNA after a tour with students of the Savelugu School for the Deaf.
The tour was part of preparations towards the World Water Day Celebrations which falls on March 21.
He said some people were tempering with the valves or the installations of the GWCL/AVRL and this affects their operations and appealed to residents to report any illegal connections to the organization or the police.
Mr. Nii-Abey said the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly was collaborating with his outfit to remove all encroachments on their facilities.
“There are lots of encroachments on our pipes and we would soon go after them decisively”.
He said the water supply in the region currently stands at one million cubic meters of water monthly which supplies over 400,000 people across the region adding that they have the capacity to produce 45,000 cubic meters of water daily.
