Ghanaian journalist excels at Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards 2010
For the first time in its seven-year history a Ghanaian journalist has won an award at the Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards 2010.
The journalist, Felix Dela Klutse of the Daily Guide newspaper won the Best Business News Story Award with the story titled ‘China Takes African Market by Storm’.
Winners in other categories are; Best ICT Feature, Iden Wetherell of the Global Post, Zimbabwe/USA, Best Financial Feature, David Stead and team, BBC World Service, Africa Have Your Say, UK.
The Best Infrastructure Feature category was won by Kerry Dimmer of Africa Decisions, South Africa, the Best Agribusiness/Environment Feature Award went to Francis Kagolo of the New Vision in Uganda and the Best Tourism Feature Award went to Philip Mwakio of the Financial Journal, Kenya.
Peter Vlam of Africa Interactive won the Best Use of New Media in a Story Award, and the Best Business Feature Award went to Jerry Guo of the Newsweek. The Best Newcomer Award was won by Gemma Ware of the The Africa Report, Business Day Nigeria, won Media of the Year Award and the Journalist of the Year Award went to Peter Guest of This is Africa, UK.
According to organisers, a record 770 entries were received for this year.
Winners received a bronze statue titled “News” by the sculptor Loni Kreuder and a cheque for £500.
