Ghana stocks bounce back during Friday trading

The was a remarkable resurgence during Friday trading on the Accra Bourse that saw the GSE All-Share Index, the main market indicator, gaining 76.94 points to close at 6,522.01 points from Thursday’s tumble to 6,445.07 points.

The change year to date also jumped to 17.04 points from 15.66 points during the previous trading.

Total shares traded was 185,978 valued at GH¢122,783.37. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) led the pack with 56,600 traded shares valued at GH¢7,972.00, while Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) followed with 49,100 shares valued at GH¢75,298.00; SIC Insurance Company (SIC) had 27,700 of its shares valued at GH¢9,141.00 sold with Ghana Oil Company Limited following with 26,700 shares valued at GH¢6,169.00.

On the broader market, there were five gainers and three losers. Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) gained GH¢2.35 to close at GH¢42.90; Total Petroleum Ghana Limited (TOTAL) appreciated by GH¢0.87 to close at GH¢8.25; Golden Star Resources Limited (GSR) went up GH¢0.14 to close at GH¢2.84; while GCB gained GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢1.53 with SG-SSB Limited (SG-SSB) also appreciating by GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢0.55.

Three equities that lost GH¢0.01 each were Benso Oil Palm Plantations (BOPP) to close trading GH¢0.74; Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) to close at GH¢0.23 with SIC closing at GH¢0.33.

There are 17.48 million issued shares and Market Capitalization of GH¢18,221.97 million.
