Loan recovery agents asked to reclaim MASLOC money
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, on Thursday called on loan recovery agents of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), to reclaim loans obtained from the Centre by people from the Region.
He said “I want you to help me recover 100 per cent of the loans given out. We have started retrieving some cars and I am counting on you to retrieve everything and rebrand MASLOC as a serious loan Centre.”
Mr Amenowode, who made the call at a training workshop for loan recovery agents of MASLOC in Ho, said that the Centre was in serious crisis and needed committed individuals to salvage it.
He said that the scheme, which took off with a total of 50 million dollars was left with only three million dollars.
Mr Amenowode said that only 308,005.29 Ghana Cedis was recovered out of a total 2,051,855 Ghana cedis given out as loans and car loans in default of 338,136 Ghana Cedis, in the Region.
He charged the agents to work without fear or favour and recover everything due the Scheme adding “You must start work now and inform people that MASLOC is no more considered as party largesse. Whether you financed a political party or not you must pay back your loan,”.
Ms Esther Agbeko, Human Resource Manager of MASLOC, urged the agents to help the centre to achieve its objectives.
She said the training was meant to equip them to identify the defaulters and how to recover the loans.
