Man from Ghana dies at Japan airport

A man from Ghana had suddenly died shortly after arriving in Japan.

The AFP citing Japanese officials and news reports said, the 55-year-old man who was carrying a valid Belgian passport arrived  at the Kansai International Airport in western Japan late on Sunday from Ghana via Dubai, and died shortly after arrival.

The man whose purpose of visiting Japan was unclear to officials was said to be asked additional questions by immigration officials at the airport.

“He was not cooperative and suddenly ran away from the office. As we caught him, he became limp. He was sent to a nearby hospital, and his death was confirmed there.” The report quotes officials as saying.

The Belgian Ambassador in Japan, Johan Maricou told the AFP that according to information he had received, the man was carrying a genuine Belgian passport, but there is no information about his visit to Japan and there is no trace of his links in Belgium.

The police are probing the cause of death in an autopsy, the report added.
