CEPS advises public to pay taxes on goods
Mr Ben Suuri, Sector Commander of the Custom Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) in the Eastern Region, on Wednesday, advised the public to pay taxes and revenues due to the CEPS, to enable it to achieve the 4.3 million cedis target set for the year.
He said CEPS was the largest revenue collector in the country and urged the pubic to assist it to discharge its duties effectively.
Mr Suuri, who was speaking in an interview with the GNA in Koforidua, said CEPS would put “an eagle eye” on the public to ensure that revenue that is due to the organization is duly collected.
He advised the public to guard against negative tendencies such as smuggling and under and over-invoicing.
Mr Suuri announced that CEPS would soon embark on educating the public on tax and duty collection.
He expressed worry that despite CEPS efforts to educate the people on duty and tax collection in the region, it was still facing problems with collecting duties on petroleum machines.
