Who wins what at 15th GJA Awards Nite?
Another historic moment beckons as some Ghanaian journalists will be honoured for excelling in their work.
Thursday August 19, 2010, the Awards Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will announce nominees for the 15th edition of the Ghana Journalists Association Awards Nite to be held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra Saturday August 21.
There will be nominees in both the competitive categories and honorary awards.
At the launch of the Awards Committee in June, the GJA president, Ransford Tetteh said; “The pile of envelopes in front of me to my right is a record 271 entries and nominations. It is 52 more than last year’s record of 208.”
Out of the 271 entries, 40 awards would be given to the best in the various categories.
The categories are: News Reporting; Features; Investigative Reporting; Photojournalism; Sports; Arts/Entertainment and Domestic Tourism; Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu Award, Business/Finance and Economic Reporting; Small and Micro-Scale Enterprise; Environment; Health; HIV/AIDS; Development Journalism for furthering MDGs; Parliamentary Reporting; Human Rights (focus on Child Rights); Political Reporting; Court and Crime Reporting; Hygiene and Sanitation; Disability; Telecommunications; ICT (Online Journalism); Best Roirt on Anti-Corruption; Best Report on Education.
There are two categories for Print Media Specific, and these are Columnist and Cartoonist and there is a category for Media Houses only.
As journalists who entered the competition await the announcement, looks like everybody wants to know. Who wins what?
