Local fabrics said to be of good quality as foreign ones
Local textiles are of good quality as the foreign ones, Mr Paul Ambenne, Head of Business Development of Cleaning Solutions Limited has said.
He said people needed to only use the right type of soap or detergents to wash their locally manufacture fabrics in order to promote their lifespan.
Mr Ambenne, therefore, advised Ghanaians to patronize local fabrics to encourage foreigners to also use them. This according to him would help producers to generate the needed income and ensure sustainability of the industry.
He was addressing 30 laundry operators drawn from the southern sector of the country at a day’s seminar on the uses of the right detergents for fabrics in Takoradi on Friday.
The participants were laundry operators from hotels, factories, companies and hospitals as well as individuals and entrepreneurs.
He noted that all fabrics no matter the country of origin would fade if not handled properly or washed with strong soap. He therefore encouraged Ghanaians to have faith in their own country’s “prophet”.
He, however, advised that white fabrics must be handled differently from coloured ones, which do not need strong soap for washing.
Mr Ambenne advised laundry operators especially those in the hotels, rest houses and hostels to attach importance to their work as any laxity on their part could impact negatively on the hospitality industry.
He stressed the importance for laundry operators to observe personal and environmental hygiene to meet the desire of customers especially when tourists were frequenting the country in order for them to carry good impressions about them.
Mr Kofi Ankama-Asmoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Cleaning Solutions Limited, called on laundry operators to form association to be able to present common concerns to government for sup
He expressed his company’s preparedness to organise seminars and workshops for operators of the laundry industry to produce quality work for customers.
