Ghana to host Africa Microfinance Conference
Ghana is to host this year’s Africa Microfinance Network (AFMIN) Conference in October this year on the theme; ”Access To Financial Services: Reaching the Excluded”.
The AFMIN is the Sub-Saharan Regional Body of country level Microfinance Networks set up to promote effective and sustainable financial services to financially engaged the poor in Africa.
Dr David Obu Andah, Executive Secretary of the Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN), said at a press briefing in Accra on Monday that the conference would among other topics, look at how to reach people in the rural areas with Microfinance.
He said other topics would include; Protecting the Microcredit Clients, Enhancing Financial Access through Technology, Micro-Insurance for Security, Innovative Savings Mobilization and Interest Rates.
Participants for the conference would come from AU member countries, development Partners, commercial banks, Bank of Ghana, Ministry of Finance, which is the main sponsor, financial non governmental organisations, insurance companies, rural and community banks and susu collectors from Ghana and abroad.
