National Population Council organizes seminar on 2010 Census
The National Population Council, on Monday organized a day’s advocacy seminar on the 2010 Housing and Population Census for major stakeholders, in Sekondi.
Personnel from the security agencies, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, religious bodies and opinion leaders attended the event.
Mr. Frank Ofosu-Asante, acting Western Regional Population Officer, called for the creation of regional databanks through out the country.
He said the 2010 Census should be given the necessary support because it would be the last before the evaluation of the country’s progress on the Millennium Development Goals in 2015.
Mr. Ofosu-Asante said the country needed adequate, reliable and up-to-date information on demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the society for national development.
